Pop band Fleetwood Mac has cancelled its upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand following diagnosis of their bassist John McVie with cancer.

The tour was expected to begin on November 10 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and continue through the Hunter Valley, Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth over the following two weeks.

The band’s spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg did not specify what type of cancer Mc Vie is receiving treatment for, nor did she comment on the extent of the disease. A statement on the band’s website apologized to fans for the cancellation of the tour and explained that Mc Vie has been scheduled to receive treatment for during the scheduled dates.

“We are sorry to not be able to play these Australian and New Zealand dates,” the statement read on their official Facebook page. “We hope our Australian and New Zealand fans as well as Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”

Fleetwood Mac had just finished touring Europe. The band is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas on December 30.

Toll of the phosphor accident in Ukraine still rising

Toll of the phosphor accident in Ukraine still rising

Between 143 and 152 people have now been hospitalized in the wake of Monday’s train derailment near Lviv, Ukraine, and subsequent phosporous cloud. According to the Ukrainian Healthcare Ministry’s spokesperson, Igor Gerych, 43 of the injured are children, 13 are firemen and three are medical personnel. None are considered to be in mortal danger, yet some cases remain at medium risk level.

Nearly 400 people are involved with the clean-up operations. Among them are military specialists for chemical warfare. The Ukrainian Army alert state was raised to “high readiness” state on Tuesday, when the scale of the accident became clear. 27 medical brigades, 13 consultants and seven specialists are inspecting the surrounding inhabited areas.

Two of the fifteen phosphor containers that were involved in the accident have been raised and put on new transports; nine of them need more work to treat leaking and damaged areas. All containers are to be transported to a more secure location by Saturday.

The situation on the ground appears to be confusing. Political TV channel, Kanal 5, reports that the village closest to the accident, Ozhidovo, is still requesting volunteers to send medicines and water, as they do not have any. Journalists of three TV channels (Inter, Novyj Kanal, ICTV) needed medical care themselves after being in the village.

TV channel, UT-1 reports this evening that the Ukranian President, Viktor Yushchenko, has called an urgent meeting of the National Security Council.

The accident appears to be likely to become a topic of contention in the long-standing rivalry between the President and the Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. Yesterday, the President publicly criticized the government’s work.

Politicization of the disaster is likely to be the main reason behind the extreme differences among the versions of the Ukrainian media. Some declared the accident “ended” a few hours after it occurred, while others are still making alarming reports.

On July 18, the Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC) of the European Commission reportedly offered EU assistance to the Ukrainian government. The same sources say that Ukraine has not officially requested the help. Without a formal request, EU assistance cannot begin.

On the same date, NATO Spokesman in Brussels, Mr. James Appathurai, is reported by Podrobnosti to have declared that the Alliance is following the situation, and that NATO has not received any request for help from the Ukraine, either.

Ford’s US auto sales spike, surpassing GM

Ford’s US auto sales spike, surpassing GM

Ford Motor Company said on Tuesday that its sales in the United States rose 43% in February compared to the same period last year, as the automaker outsold rivals Toyota and General Motors.

The strength of our new products … are resonating with customers

Ford said that total sales improved to 142,285 units, compared to 141,951 units sold by GM. Additionally, Ford said that its share of the total US car market rose to 17%, up from 14% a year ago. The increase was better than analysts had predicted, and Ford’s stock rose to a five-year high in morning trading, before declining later in the day. Ford’s sales were significantly influenced by a 74% increase in fleet sales to businesses. Rental car agencies alone accounted for around 30,000 units sold. Sales to retail consumers increased only 28%.

The increases were led by sales of two sedans, the Fusion and Taurus, which rose 166.5 and 93.3% respectively, although sales of other models such as SUVs and pickup trucks also increased. Both models were significantly redesigned last year, and analysts said that improved quality from such cars were driving the increases.

Other companies also reported February sales today, nearly all reporting sales gains as well, although none as large as those of Ford. Toyota was the sole exception to the sales gains, as their sales declined 8.7%, as the company was faced with a global recall during the month that led to a temporary stoppage of production for some models.

“The strength of our new products … are resonating with customers,” said Ken Czubay, Ford’s vice president of sales and marketing. However, he believed that traditional Toyota customers were not buying rival autos, but rather awaiting the results from the recalls.

Crush

Posted on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 in Public Relations

By Anna Jones

Crushes are known to be the easy doorway into the planet of strong emotions and affairs, without having much of the distressing hazard involved in really dating someone. A crush more truly means to admire someone from far-off. It’s a very cute feeling which deters obligation of any sort. You actually enjoy the little spring of emotion that grows in your heart and it is indeed an incredibly powerful feeling that might take you to the crest of sheer obsession. This adorable feeling of crush is usually experienced on people who are very unlikely to fall for a relationship with you. Often observed among the teenagers, crushes can be on anyone and at anywhere. Teachers, actors, band members, scout leaders or any one of higher authority can be your crush. You can also have crush on your class mate. We all have crushes in our life and this is something we look back on with great fondness.

Crushes usually happens when you meet someone for the first time and there is some special quality in the person which draws your attention so much that you get attracted to him or her drastically. When crushes occur, you tend to think about the person day or night where there may be the least possibility for a passionate relation between you two. But if the crush is a both sided one then it might get transformed into love with the consent of duo. Crushes can happen at any age and it can also crop up in your heart even if you are into a romance already. You are thrilled when they are close to you and feel wretched when they are away. You become so impatient that you always want to tell the person how much you like him or her but are scared at the same time of his or her rebuff. A hasty heartbeat and clammy palms are the main indication for a person in crush. Sometime out of excess excitement, youngsters start drooling when they get in touch with their crush. At the beginning, it might seem very hard to settle out things in one’s mind and especially in one’s heart but within few weeks or few months everything will even out and soon you will learn to bring your emotion under control. A crush if dealt in an understanding manner, eventually takes the form of a more meaningful bond; it can be an everlasting friendship or a romance.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQPNvuHNbqc[/youtube]

There are some indications given by your crush and if you notice them deeply you can actually recognize the person having a crush on you. Starting off with boys, in crush, they will start treating you with esteem; they will send flowers on your birthday without mentioning their name, they will often flatter your beauty, they will pretend to be quite chilled at observing you eyeing or mingling with other guys but in actuality would hate the scenario. If you ever forget your jacket anywhere, they are always there to lend you their own; you will find him talking in a softer tone while interacting with you, they will always escort you to your home, just to bring a smile on your face they will go to the extent of cracking jokes even on themselves, they memorize little things mentioned by you in the conversation and sometimes they look straight into your eyes. All these activities of a guy towards you imply that you are his crush.

Girls are quite inexplicable and you will never be able to find out if any girl has a crush on you unless she decides to let you aware of it. Either a girl in crush prefers to keep absolutely hushed or make it public by unveiling her feelings to everyone in order to seek suggestion. If you are the one the lady has a crush on then the first thing you will notice is a direct eye contact and a smirk on her face while eyeing you. She flips her hair while talking to you and also at times touches your arm; she will often come up with queries such as what kind of girl can take your breath away, while freaking out in a group especially in a movie hall you will always find her taking the seat right beside you and she will turn down the girl who will come under your list of praised ones. She remembers the name of each of every person at your home including your pets, she has every detail of yours registered in her mind. Her friends seem to know you well since she shares her secret thoughts about you with her friends. She will even try to spend extra time with you in all probable ways.

As you will set your eyes on these given ideas, you will feel the rush of being taken by a crush. These ideas will solve the puzzles in your mind about whether the person you have a crush on undergoes the similar kind of feelings. Crushes are usually seen as ephemeral, unrequited love based on bodily charm which often casts its spell on the teenage groups and thereby termed as immaturity. If this crush is both-sided then with a little bit of attempt, it can take the form of love. So move ahead and enjoy your crush as this is something which cannot be stripped off from anyone’s life.

How To Decide On A Credit Card

Posted on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in Human Resources

A credit card, though it has a bad reputation according to many financial advisors, is a great financial tool for many. It’s a great way to cut back on carrying tons of cash, and it’s portable and convenient. There are tons of offers available for every consumer, so how do you know you’re getting a deal that’s right for you? Look for the following things when deciding on a credit card:

Your credit score. Your credit score will help determine how much you’ll have to pay for interest rates, the credit limit you’re given, and other features put on the card. Check a credit report to see what your score is, and apply for cards that are within your range. Interest Rate. You want the rate to be as low as possible. Be careful when you see offers for extremely low rates. Many of those will only last a short time, after which you’ll have to pay a much higher rate. Rewards. Many credit cards offer rewards programs for those who use their cards. Programs include cash back, rewards points, and airline miles. Pick the rewards program that you like the best. Policies. Certain companies will have certain policies when it comes to late payments, overlimit fees, and payment terms. Make sure you understand all the policies of the credit card you select before making your final decision. Reputation. Certain companies have better reputations than others in terms of the quality of their customer service. If something goes wrong while you are using their card, you want to make sure that you can call the company and speak to a live person who will help you with your problem. Having to deal with a rude or unhelpful customer service representative can really hurt you down the line.

Mortgage advisers attempt to collect rent from neighbors after FBI raid in Union City, California

Mortgage advisers attempt to collect rent from neighbors after FBI raid in Union City, California

Friday, May 6, 2005

Three months after the FBI raided the offices of the Dorean Group in Union City, California, neighboring companies in the same office park have received letters claiming that rent for the office park should now be paid to the Dorean Group. The owner of the office park, Hanover Properties, insists that they have not sold the park and called the Dorean Group’s claim fraudulent.

The first letter from the Dorean Group, dated May 2nd, 2005, purported to “inform [the tenants] of the change in ownership of the property [the tenants] now occupy,” and asked that “payment of rents be sent” to the principals of the Dorean Group. The letter also included notarized documents authorizing the sale by an alleged agent of the current owner, Hanover Properties, a “Julia Pantibratyuk.”

On the subsequent day, Hanover Properties responded in a letter to the other tenants of the park. They noted that they had not sold the office park to the Dorean Group, but that they had evicted the Dorean Group from the premises on April 26. They added that, “We do not know who Julia Pantbratyuk[sic] is.”

The letters were provided to Wikinews reporter Pingswept by an employee of one of the companies in the office park.

Baby dies after being found abandoned behind shop in Gwent, Wales

Baby dies after being found abandoned behind shop in Gwent, Wales
Posted on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Uncategorized

Saturday, March 20, 2010

According to an announcement from Gwent Police, a baby boy has died after being found abandoned behind a convenience store in Gwent, Wales. The boy, who has not yet been identified, was found behind a Spar convenience store in the town of Cwmcarn at 1815 GMT on Tuesday. The baby was found to be wrapped in a towel which was in a plastic shopping bag. Bystanders who were walking past the scene mistakenly believed that the bag had been unintentionally left there by a person who had visited the gym that is located next to the store.

A 14-year-old boy, who is the son of the man who owns the convenience store, then examinied the bag and discovered the baby. He made a phone call to the emergency services, however, when the baby was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital, it was pronounced dead on arrival. The baby was younger than one day old at the time of his death. A post-mortem examination proved to be indeterminate. Gwent Police have now launched an investigation to try and determine the identity of the baby’s mother.

Gursewak Singh, the father of the person who discovered the baby and the owner of the shop, explained: “We asked friends and colleagues what the bag was doing there, but it didn’t belong to anyone. A boy who works with us said it was just a towel in there and he didn’t open it. In the evening I went out to it and opened it, only saw a towel on top and didn’t look thoroughly. I just thought it was clothes underneath and didn’t want to root through them. I picked it up and hanged it on the gatepost so someone walking by might see it and recognise it as theirs. At about six o’clock there was a power cut and my 14-year-old son went out and picked up the bag and opened it and saw a little head in there. He called his uncle and said: ‘It’s not clothes, come and look’. They came over and saw the baby in there.” Singh commented that this incident “was shocking. We were all devastated. I wish we had checked earlier. If we had gone through the bag we could have made a difference. I’m worried what sort of condition the person who left the bag is in. We are so concerned about her. Other people saw the bag, but nobody thought about it. There could be a baby still alive. I wish we had checked straight away.”

Gwent Police member Superintendent John Burley stated about this case: “We are extremely concerned about the health and wellbeing of the mother of the baby and are appealing for her to come forward to receive any medical treatment she may require. This is a tragic incident which will sadden the local community and our priority at the moment is finding the mother of the baby. I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the Spar store on Thursday morning or afternoon who may be able to offer any information to assist our inquiry.”
