Start Up Business Financing What Are The Essentials Of Getting A Small Business Loan?

Posted on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in Financial Solutions

Submitted by: David S. Stratton

Ahead of seeking for money to finance a small business, it is necessary to know what a small business is all about. The meaning of this will depend on the location or sphere of operation of the small business. In most cases, the number of personnel that the business has is what will be used to draw a line between a small business and a big one. For example, a small business will employ not more than a hundred personal in the United States and not more than fifty in Europe.

There are so many reasons why as a small business owner, you will request for more finance. You may want to build up the business, make some important acquisition for the business or even redeem your debts. There are so many options to finance this type of business but the most preferable source should be through the use of loans from banks. Access to loans will be easily obtained by those businesses which have a good reputation in the market than those small or new ones just getting into the market.

You will first of all have to make an application to the bank and the application will include the following:

A brief record of the activities of the business and any information showing its probable expansion;

Who the owners are and their position in the business;

Guarantee for the loan;

The business s present financial status;

A statement of how the loan will be repaid;

Why Is A Brief Record Of The Business Needed?

This is always needed by the banker to make sure that the bank is not only aware of where it is putting its money into, but it is also sure that it is lending to a business which has potentials of growth. Remember that it is always necessary to take reasonable steps to make sure that the loan will be repaid when it is due.

The business must also prove some experience in handling finances. This will be related to the expertise that the owners or personnel of the business have. Keep in mind that there must always be an indication that the loan will be administered in the most appropriate manner.

The application must have a guarantee:

There is no way in which a loan will be provided to a business which does not have security to cover the loan. Remember that the bank will need something to keep hold of in the event of any failure to repay the loan. Security for the loan may take various forms, but the banks are more interested in security which consists of fixed assets.

A statement of how the loan will be repaid should be included:

Every lender will want to know how you plan to pay pack the loan. Make sure you provide evidence of this. You can use your earnings or even personal finance to prove this. In some cases, a refinancing option may also be used. The most probable should be that the earnings from the business should be able to take charge of the loan.

You must always know that the probability of you getting a loan will not be the same for every lender. But if you have all the essentials in getting a loan, you should be sure that it will be given to you.

Trustpower plans to build new windfarm in New Zealand

Monday, January 9, 2006

New Zealand electricity generator and retailer TrustPower said today that it is considering a wind farm development at Lake Mahinerangi, south of Dunedin, in the lower South Island of New Zealand. In a development which could be worth up to NZ$500 million (US$347 million), to the Otago region according to TrustPower chief executive, Keith Tempest.

TrustPower said in a statement that the 300 megawatts wind farm, built in three 100 megawatts installments, could eventually provide enough electricity to power 150,000 homes and that it will be a world class installation that will guarantee security of electricity for the region.

According to Tempest “A windfarm development at Mahinerangi would enable us to better utilise the hydro storage available behind our Waipori scheme,” Lake Mahinerangi is also the site of TrustPower’s largest hydro lake.

TrustPower expects to apply for environmental consents under Resource Management Act later in the year if engineering reports prove the site satisfactory.

After the announcement TrustPower’s shares remained unchanged at NZ$6.16. (US$4.26)

Currently the largest windfarm in New Zealand is operating at Te Apiti in the Manawatu; producing 90 megawatts of electricity. NZ Power companies are seeking to have resource consent procedures simplified for smaller-scale windfarms.

California teamsters picket Orange County transit system in contract dispute

In an ongoing labor dispute from May of this year in California, United States, Teamsters Local 952, which represents the Orange County Transportation Authority‘s 1,200 coach operators, went on strike at 12:35 a.m. (0035 hrs) PDT Saturday morning after a cooling-off period declared by State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger expired.

Sanctioned picket lines have been formed outside Authority facilities in Garden Grove, Anaheim, and Santa Ana. About 200,000 regular passengers are affected.

Major sticking points in the negotiation appear to be related to cost-of-living increases and pension funding allocations. The strike was declared after the Authority’s bargaining agent said he lacked authority to approve a union counter proposal, which he said had to be taken before the OCTA’s board of directors, who will not be available to meet until Monday the 9th at the earliest.

Finding The Best Heating Contractors In Fort Collins

Posted on Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Shipping

byAlma Abell

As summer draws to a close, it is about that time to be thinking about what is needed to prepare for the winter. A cold winter ahead means that reliable heating is very important, and so it is equally important to find the best heating products to ensure a warm and comfortable season. Finding heating contractors in Fort Collins is an easy task, but what about finding a heating contractor who can provide both energy and cost efficient products, as well as excellent customer service? Tri-City Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. is one of the choices for families looking for high quality products and overall satisfaction. The best heating contractors in Fort Collins are the ones who can boast not only a vast range of products to keep everyone’s home toasty and safe this winter, but also feature offerings to replace current heating equipment with newer, more energy efficient products. It is a must to find a company that can save one money on energy bills.

Seek out heating contractors in the city of Fort Collins who supply excellent service leading to high customer satisfaction. For example, contractors who are available long after the sale for repairs and advice on how to maintain and fix your new sustainable units are an ideal feature of a great company. The typical consumers want excellent service to back up the products that they use because it provides them with peace of mind should something go wrong. If a company does not appear friendly or willing to help with any problems should they arise, they are not worth the time or money.

When searching for heating contractors located in the area, it is also important to look at the amount of experience that each company has. The longer the company has been around shows that it has a strong reputation within the community. To summarize, the best kind of heating contractors are the ones who are experienced in providing high quality products and go above and beyond in customer satisfaction. Finding a great heating contractor who can provide satisfaction, quality and experience is not as daunting of a task as it may seem if one keeps in mind what to look for.

Second case of BSE confirmed in U.S.

Second case of BSE confirmed in U.S.
Posted on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in Uncategorized

Saturday, June 25, 2005

Seven months after suspicions were first raised, United States Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns confirmed that a second American cow has tested positive for BSE (also known as ‘mad cow disease’), as determined by a lab in Weybridge, England. The department believes that this cow was born in the United States.

The delay in confirmation followed two conflicting test results from last November. The “Western blot” test, which is a more sophisticated test, could have helped reach a final determination, but the U.S. refused to perform it in November. The department’s inspector general, Phyllis Fong, ordered the Western blot test in June without advising Johanns and by the time Johanns found out about it, the testing was under way.

Johanns was annoyed that the round of testing which confirmed “Mad Cow” had been ordered without him being consulted first.”I was asked by the Senate and the president to operate the department,” Johanns said. “I believe, in this area, very clearly, the secretary should be consulted, whoever the secretary is, before testing is undertaken. From my standpoint, I believe I was put there to operate the department and was very disappointed.”

A senior research associate with Consumers Union, Michael Hansen, said USDA officials “almost sound like some Keystone Kops.”

Johanns reassured Americans that they should not be afraid of eating beef, saying: “This animal was blocked from entering the food supply because of the firewalls we have in place. Americans have every reason to continue to be confident in the safety of our beef.”

On June 17, the Associated Press reported: “American cattle are eating chicken litter, cattle blood and restaurant leftovers that could help transmit mad cow disease — a gap in the U.S. defense that the Bush administration promised to close nearly 18 months ago.”

John Stauber, co-author of “Mad Cow USA: Could the Nightmare Happen Here?” said: “Once the cameras were turned off and the media coverage dissipated, then it’s been business as usual, no real reform, just keep feeding slaughterhouse waste. The entire U.S. policy is designed to protect the livestock industry’s access to slaughterhouse waste as cheap feed.”

Critics of the U.S. testing regimen said the fumbles this time increase their concerns about America’s screening process.

“How can we be sure they were really negative?” Craig Culp, a spokesman for the Center for Food Safety asked; “After all, (here is a cow that was) negative in November that is positive in June.”

The companies which render slaughter waste say new restrictions are not warranted. “We process about 50 billion pounds of product annually — in visual terms, that is a convoy of semi trucks, four lanes wide, running from New York to L.A. every year,” said Jim Hodges, president of the American Meat Institute Foundation.

Icelandic Internet bank suspends UK accounts

Icelandic Internet bank suspends UK accounts
Posted on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Uncategorized

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

The Icelandic internet bank, Icesave, has suspended all 300,000 of its UK customer accounts, leaving account holders in the United Kingdom unable to withdraw or deposit any funds. A message on its website posted this morning states:

“We are not currently processing any deposits or any withdrawal requests through our Icesave internet accounts. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers. We hope to provide you with more information shortly.”

The internet bank, owned by the Icelandic bank, Landsbanki (Landsbankinn), which was recently nationalised in an attempt to rescue it, has been hit by the global financial crisis. Reports from the United Kingdom suggest that the traders and city are preparing for the parent company to be declared insolvent, leaving customers to recover their monies through a financial compensation scheme being backed by the Icelandic Government. The plan will cover the first € 20,887 (Approx £16,300 / $28,720), the remainder of the customers funds being recovered through the UK’s own financial compensation system.

Following the decision to nationalise Landsbanki, the Icelandic Prime Minister, Geir Haarde, who introduced and signed the emergency legislation into law, stated:

“What we are doing here is saving a banking system – saving the domestic banking system – and making sure that it can function properly. And I think, also, through our declaration on domestic deposits in these banks and saving institutions, we have been able to avoid a run on the banks here, and therefore prevent it.”

In describing and explaining its actions in nationalising the bank, the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority issued this brief statement:

“Based on new legislation, the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority (IFSA) proceeds to take control of Landsbanki to ensure continued commercial bank operations in Iceland. Domestic deposits are fully guaranteed, as declared by the government. Landsbanki’s domestic branches, call centres, cash machines and internet operations will be open for business as usual.”

In response to the deepening world financial situation, the Dutch government has this afternoon increased its savers protection from €38,000 to €80,000 effective immediately, to help secure the financial status of its savers within Holland. Icesave also has a Dutch branch, icesave.nl – their website was unreachable at the time of this article.

The Advantages Of Reusing Large Trees

Posted on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Property Improvement And Development Projects

Submitted by: Ross Latham

Whenever someone is doing a major improvement to a piece of property, such as constructing a new building on it, the question often arises of what to do with any large trees on the property.

In the past it has been common to just mow down any large trees that are in the way, build the new building, then plant new trees. But a new popular trend is emerging, to instead, transplant the existing mature or specimen trees to other spots on the property. Thus these mature trees are saved, and one can receive the benefits of mature trees right away. Some of those benefits include:

* You don t have to wait decades for those new trees to grow to maturity.

* A single mature tree can absorb carbon dioxide at a rate of 48 lbs. per year and release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support two human beings.

* Trees reduce the greenhouse effect by shading our homes and office buildings. This reduces air conditioning needs up to 30%, thereby reducing the amount of fossil fuels used to produce electricity. This combination of CO2 removal from the atmosphere, carbon storage in wood, and the cooling effect makes trees a very efficient tool in fighting the greenhouse effect.

* Trees reduce topsoil erosion, prevent harmful land pollutants contained in the soil from getting into our waterways, slow down water run-off, and ensure that our groundwater supplies are continually being replenished. For every 5% of tree cover added to a community, stormwater runoff is reduced by approximately 2%.

* Homeowners that properly place trees in their landscape can realize savings up to 58% on daytime air conditioning and as high as 65% for mobile homes. If applied nationwide to buildings not now benefiting from trees, the shade could reduce our nation s consumption of oil by 500,000 barrels of oil/day.

* Because trees lower air temperatures, shade buildings in the summer, and block winter winds, they can reduce building energy use and cooling costs.

* USFS estimates the annual effect of well-positioned trees on energy use in conventional houses at savings between 20-25% when compared to a house in a wide-open area.

* Property values increase 5-15% when compared to properties without trees (depends on species, maturity, quantity and location)

* Studies have shown that:

1. Trees enhance community economic stability by attracting businesses and tourists.

2. People linger and shop longer along tree-lined streets.

3. Apartments and offices in wooded areas rent more quickly and have higher occupancy rates.

4. Businesses leasing office spaces in developments with trees find their workers are more productive and absenteeism is reduced.

The above benefits are from this site: http://www.coloradotrees.org/benefits.htm

As an example, my company, located in Snohomish, WA in the Seattle area, has done numerous transplanting projects recently:

* We were contracted by the University of Washington to transplant 10 large trees on the campus otherwise slated for being cut down during a University construction project. We moved the trees from their current locations near a building that will be demolished, to other planting locations on campus.

* We were pulled into the Viaduct replacement project in late October, 2011 with a mission of saving some of the large columnar maples planted close by, for use at a new Port of Seattle project. The large trees are approximately 30-35′ tall and provided a touch of landscape green, including beautiful fall colors to an otherwise all concrete structure.

* In preparation for the construction of the new Green River Community College Student Success Center, we transplanted eight 20-30 foot cedar trees from the south side of the OEA building between the science/technology complex and the SMT building creating a visual screen.

Builders in the know realize moving even one tree can create a positive impact that lasts. The projects that have a conscience in the Puget Sound know the value of moving trees. Moving trees has become standard operations for builders that want a positive buzz. Saving trees from certain death on building projects adds lasting esteem to all involved. Once a tree is moved, all involved reap the benefits.

So there are many benefits to saving and moving existing mature trees to other locations, rather than cutting them down. And the best time to transplant trees is when they are dormant, between mid-November and mid-March.

Cocaine found in frozen mango puree shipped to Montréal, Canada

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced Tuesday that they had seized approximately 160 kilograms of cocaine discovered in buckets of frozen mango puree imported from Mexico.

Investigations led the police to a shipping container destined for the Port of Montréal, in the Canadian province of Québec. A CBSA officer at the Container Examination Centre in Montréal identified the suspect container. The drug was found in brick-shaped plastic wrapping of about 4 kilograms in weight each. There were 1,200 buckets of frozen mango puree in the shipment, not all with cocaine inside.

RCMP Sgt. André Potvin told reporters that the value of the shipment was significant and was the largest maritime port drug haul in the force’s history. At CA$20 per half-gram, “that’s in the vicinity of $38 million,” said Potvin.

The investigation by the RCMP Drug Section, CBSA Intelligence officers, the Marine Security Enforcement Team and the Port of Montréal Security Group, determined that an import company, named Quality Mexport, was allegedly a front for the drug-smuggling operation.

Five Mexicans, holding visitor status in Canada, were arrested in the matter. They are:

 • Juan Manuel Huerta Canela, 31;
 • Jose Gerardo Bernal Vasquez, 52;
 • Jose Luis Navarro Ochoa, 33;
 • Jesus Manuel Villa Quiroz, 32; and
 • Alfonso Strag Estrada, age 50.

The suspects have been charged with importing and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. The charges are allegations at this point in time.
