Tips For Using Retail Marketing In Your Business

Posted on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Fleet Management

By A Noton

Using retail marketing in your business is one of the best ways that you can find to become more profitable. It does not mean that you have to spend a lot of money on it, but by being creative and focusing on a marketing strategy you are being proactive and not waiting for customers to magically fall through your doors.

You can very easily fall into the trap as owner or manager of a retail business of just working in the business and not working on the business. If you are in a position of responsibility in the store, then you should be spending a good portion of your time coming up with new ideas of how to market the business and improve the running of the business and its profitability. First you should work out how you can delegate tasks in order to free up time to do this.

In order for more people to come into your business you need to let them know who you are, where you are, what you offer and what is in it for them. There are many different ways to encourage more people to come into your business and to keep coming back and spending money. One of the best ways to do it is to establish a rewards or loyalty program. If you make people feel like they are a part of something and they get rewards for shopping with you, then you would be surprised how far out of their way they will come to shop with you.

There are two aspects to this style of marketing: one is getting more people to come to your shop and the other is getting them to spend more or learn more about your products when they are there. There are literally millions of ideas that you can use to get more people to come through your doors and then splash out when they are there and keep coming back.

Some people are scared off marketing their business because they think that they have to spend crazy sums of money in order to pay for advertising. The good news is that there is no reason to spend large sums on advertising that gets you little reaction. You have to create a reason for people to come and visit you and when you are running a marketing campaign you need to measure the response that you get so that you can work out what works best for your business.

There are oh so many things that you can try out in order to boost customer numbers in your store. Some things that you might like to think about and which do not cost a lot of money are: coupons, prize draws, competitions, special days where you offer free or discounted services, flier and brochure deliveries to local areas, have informational sessions in store, have an after hours event, have product launches etcetera. You can find lots of different ideas about getting people through your doors. Some of them will work like a dream and others not so much, but you have to try to find out what does work for your business.

When customers are in the store you have to take advantage and pull out all stops to get them to spend their cash happily. This might mean having friendly, knowledgeable staff on hand, promotional displays in hot spots, special offers and much more. Having a clean shop and stock is essential too and should never be overlooked.

Using a Reward program with retail marketing is not only very effective for your business and gets results that you only dreamed of before, but you will enjoy the process of doing it too.

Wikinews interviews Rocky De La Fuente, U.S. Democratic Party presidential candidate
Posted on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Uncategorized

Thursday, March 31, 2016

Businessman Rocky De La Fuente took some time to speak with Wikinews about his campaign for the U.S. Democratic Party’s 2016 presidential nomination.

The 61-year-old De La Fuente resides in San Diego, California, grew up in Tijuana, and owns multiple businesses and properties throughout the world. Since getting his start in the automobile industry, De La Fuente has branched out into the banking and real estate markets. Despite not having held or sought political office previously, he has been involved in politics, serving as the first-ever Hispanic superdelegate to the 1992 Democratic National Convention.

De La Fuente entered the 2016 presidential race last October largely due to his dissatisfaction with Republican front-runner Donald Trump. He argues he is a more accomplished businessman than Trump, and attacks Trump as “a clown,” “a joke,” “dangerous,” and “in the same category as Hitler.” Nevertheless, De La Fuente’s business background begets comparisons with Trump. The Alaskan Midnight Sun blog described him as the Democrats’ “own Donald Trump.”

While receiving only minimal media coverage, he has campaigned actively, and according to the latest Federal Election Commission filing, loaned almost US$ 4 million of his own money to the campaign. He has qualified for 48 primary and caucus ballots, but has not yet obtained any delegates to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Thus far, according to the count at The Green Papers, De La Fuente has received 35,406 votes, or 0.23% of the total votes cast. He leads among the many lesser-known candidates but trails both Senator Bernie Sanders who has received nearly 6.5 million votes and front-runner Hillary Clinton who has just shy of 9 million votes.

With Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn?, De La Fuente discusses his personal background, his positions on political issues, his current campaign for president, and his political future.

Russian territory expands by 4.5 square kilometres after seismic activity

According to scientists, the land territory of Russia has expanded by about 4.5 square kilometres within the last few years in the Far East due to seismic and volcanic activity.

The gained land was recorded in the Sakhalin Peninsula. Boris Levin, head of the Institute for Sea Geology and Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the increase happened primarily due to two seismic events.

The first, in August of 2007, was when a heavy 6.8 earthquake near the city of Nevelsk in the Far East raised about three square kilometres of seabed above the level of the water. The second was in June of this year, when the Sarychev Peak volcano on the Matua Island erupted. GPS trackers on the Matua island were used to monitor the eruption, and the volcano changed its shape, adding 1.5 square kilometres of land, scientists said.

Geologists also reported that the Kuril Islands nearby were slowly moving towards mainland Russia at an estimated rate of eighteen milimetres per year.

Learn Fundamental Dog Potty Training Techniques for Best Results

by

Lily Nicol

A significant area of the dog obedience training is usually to show your dog the suitable way to eliminate. Potty training is crucial from the instant the puppy gets into your house. Puppy potty training is a trifle more straightforward when compared with adult dog potty training since the grownup pet might have already formed the old practice to excrete and it is particularly tough to correct or adjust. There are a number of ways to train puppy, but everything is dependent upon your standard of living, dwelling state and time exhausted in your dog training. If you are now living in a property with a backyard, then it is less complicated to carry out toilet training.

You can fix an area external to your house as the habitual spot for your dog to excrete. To accomplish that, there may be a petite fence where you can train puppy or dog to always excrete inside the fencing. If you reside in a high-rise structure or building with virtually no backyard, then you’re able to create a tiny potty section by using dog waste. One more option to dog waste will be the utilization of old paper. But in some cases, utilizing newspaper is a bit difficult since the pet might be diverted by the newspaper and began wiggling with it or simply chewing up.

You should know the signals as to when the dog is in a position to eliminate. Observe the consumption of food on a regular basis with the intention that you will have the idea of apposite timing with regard to when you have to bring your dog to the toilet area. In general, for puppy, there will be approximately 6 breaks per day; however, for the grownup dog, it is very less nearly one time each day. For younger pups, the potty breaks can be 8-10 times on a daily basis. This is also dependent on the food consumption and the kind of food you are providing.

Furthermore, you might wish to use a number of directives on dog potty training so that he/she can relate your command to what he is performing. Patience will be the solution to all varieties of training. If the pup is unable to identify it on the first occasion, go on doing it persistently and customarily until dog gets acquainted with your program.

For grownup dogs, there is a practice of marking areas as well. The dog eliminates urine on certain places to point out that the area belongs to him. However, you can steer clear of this by allowing the dog to always eliminate on a predetermined location by taking him/her there regularly. To get more details and incidents on potty training, please confer with expert dog trainers, join dog obedience classes or watch training videos online.

BC election writ drops; referendum campaigns underway

BC election writ drops; referendum campaigns underway
Posted on Friday, April 9, 2021 in Uncategorized

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The provincial election was called today in British Columbia. Alongside with the election, the citizens of the province will also be debating if they should change their electoral system from Single Member Plurality to Single Transferable Vote (STV). The vote for both the election and the referendum is to be held on May 12th.

According to the Angus Reid Strategies online poll, the issues before the candidates this year are the economy, crime and public safety, and health care.

Gordon Campbell is the current Premier of British Columbia, and leader of the Liberal Party. Three new tax measures have been proposed, increasing apprenticeship training tax credits, reducing small business income tax, and raising the revenue definition for small business. “Keep B.C. Strong” is the Liberal slogan.

The New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Carole James is focusing her election platform on supporting a green economy, eliminating the carbon tax, offering families tax relief, freezing post-secondary tuition, raising the minimum wage, and providing a small business tax holiday. The NDP slogan is “Take back your B.C.”

The Green Party, led by Jane Sterk, is focused on environmental issues, crime and police, and a ‘green economy’. The Green Party is in support of the carbon tax and will be campaigning in favour of the new STV voting system that is being proposed again. The Green Party slogan is “A better plan for B.C.”File:Carole james.jpg

Wilf Hanni is at the helm of the Conservative Party which opposes the Recognition and Reconciliation Act, privatization of BC Hydro Bill 42 ‘gag law’, and the carbon tax. They propose to reduce senior civil employee pay scale, as well as personal and corporate income tax.

Other parties running candidates are the Democratic Reform under Graeme Roger, the Marijuana Party under Marc Emery, the Work Less Party under Conrad Schmidt, the Refederation Party under Mike Summers, the Sex Party under John Ince, and the Communist Party under George Gidora.

For 60 days before the election, each party may campaign with an allowable CA$1.1 million, in the final 28 days, $4.4 million may be spent. $70,000 is allowed by candidates before the writ is dropped, and another $70,000 in the midst of campaigning.

The referendum will allow BC voters to choose between two voting systems. The Single Member Plurality system is the current system in all Canadian provinces, and is also used to elect Members of Parliament in Ottawa. The other system is BC-STV, which would replace 85 single-member ridings with 20 larger ridings in which between two and seven Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) would be elected. The total number of MLAs will not change. Voters would rank the candidates in order of preference, as many or as few as they wish. When the results are tallied, votes are transferred to the next preference on the ballot when the first preference has been elected or eliminated. The system is designed to ensure that every vote helps to elect someone, every vote counts as fully as possible, and every voter is represented by a candidate they voted for, as nearly as mathematically possible.

Previous elections held under the current Single Member Plurality (also known as First Past The Post) system led to odd results in certain elections, such as the 2001 election where the winning party obtained 77 of the 79 seats of the legislature with just 58% of the vote, and the 1996 election, in which the party with the most votes failed to win the election. The recommendation to switch to STV was made by the British Columbia Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform, a group formed in 2004 of randomly selected citizens. They spent a year learning about voting systems around the world and consulting with BC citizens.

It’s the fourth referendum in the country and the second in the province within the last 4 years. The previous referendum held in 2005 also voted on these same electoral systems and came within 2.3% of the 60% threshold. In order for the referendum to be binding, BC-STV will again need 60% of the popular vote and 50% of votes in 51 of the 85 ridings in BC. If the change is approved, it will be the first province in the country to adopt reform of the electoral system in recent history.

Fair Voting BC, recognized as the official proponent group, argues that STV will lead to fairer election results, effective local representation and greater voter choice. They argue that BC-STV will give voters the power to hold politicians and political parties accountable, by giving every voter a vote that actually makes a difference. If the STV system is approved, then it will be put into use for the first time for the 2013 provincial election.

The recognized opponent group is the No STV Campaign Society. Their arguments are that STV will give larger ridings, voters would be unsure of whom their MLA would be, there would be unequal geographic representation, that the counting method is too complicated, the electoral system results are unverified in practical usage, the system results in a higher probability of minority governments and the subsequent coalition of parties. They also argue that other countries who use systems similar to STV have had problems with their election results.

$500,000 in public funding has been given to both the proponents and the opponents of the referendum.

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warns Pennsylvania town of disaster

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warns Pennsylvania town of disaster

Thursday, November 10, 2005

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they “voted God out of your city” by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce “intelligent design” — the belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power — as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

“I’d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God. You just rejected him from your city,” Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “700 Club.”

Eight families had sued the district, claiming the policy violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The federal trial concluded days before Tuesday’s election, but no ruling has been issued.

Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that “our spiritual actions have consequences.”

“God is tolerant and loving, but we can’t keep sticking our finger in his eye forever,” Robertson said. “If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them.”

Reasons For Trade Show Failure

Posted on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in Digital Marketing

By Lawrence J. Reaves

Unfortunately, it’s easier to fail at a trade show than to succeed. Success at a trade show requires a lot of commitment from you and your team members, advance planning and an adequate budget. If any of these items are overlooked, then there’s a chance your trade show may fail.

Trade shows are a popular method of advertising your company’s products and services and a good trade show exhibition will increase your customer base and therefore increase sales. Never forget that a bad trade show exhibition can not only cost a lot of money, but can result in loss of sales and your company’s image may get tarnished.

Take a look through the following common mistakes that can result in failure at a trade show. By keeping these in mind it’s likely you will avoid the problems and make your trades how exhibition a success.

Leaving it too Late

If you decide too late to attend a trade show then there will not be enough time to get everything in order. Ideally you need to book your booth at least six months, if not earlier, in advance. You also need to start organizing for the trade show as soon as you have confirmation that you have a space booked.

Inadequate Planning

You may have starting getting ready for the trade show in time, but if the planning is inadequate it doesn’t matter how long you have, it’s unlikely it will come together cohesively. Select your team and start planning meetings. Delegate jobs to all team members, don’t try to take everything on yourself, because you think you can do it better; it won’t work. Itemize everything that needs to be attended to. Set deadlines and stick to them; slippage results in a rush toward the end and things get missed.

Late Booth Preparation

Your booth is the central place at the trade show. Never underestimate its importance. It must be designed in a way that attracts visitors. Your company name and logo need to be clearly displayed and should ideally be visible from a distance. The booth must look appealing, the lighting correct. Make sure you plan the layout of your booth in plenty of time so when you arrive you know exactly where everything goes.

Failing to Check Electrical Items

It’s of little value having a great booth design, but when you go to start a demonstration or turn on electrical equipment, it doesn’t work. Test everything the day before the show opens as this gives to time to get things repaired or replaced. Ensure you take spare parts such as light bulbs.

Follow up Failure

You may have had a great trade show and consider it a success. However, if you get back to your office and fail to follow leads and referrals then your trade show exhibition will have been a waste of time and money. Leads and referrals go cold, if not attended to quickly, so make sure you delegate a follow up process to your staff and have them report back to you regularly.

Australian emergency services personnel exposed to asbestos

Australian emergency services personnel exposed to asbestos

Wednesday, March 8, 2006

At least 250 members of Australia’s emergency services personnel in New South Wales have been informed that they could die from exposure to fatal levels of asbestos following emergency response training south of Sydney.

Members of the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) unit are thought to be at risk. They were told last week they may contract life-threatening illnesses following training on a demolition site at Holsworthy Army Barracks. The site was created to simulate rescues in the event of a terror attack or natural disaster. It has been regularly used by emergency services personnel since 2004.

Some of the emergency services personnel spent up to three weeks at a time crawling through the rubble.

Reports claim that when notified last week, senior personnel were left devastated. It can take decades for asbestos related illnesses to appear and can take up to 30 years before those exposed can be cleared of infection.

In addition to the emergency service personnel, doctors, nurses and hazardous material personnel could also be at a mild risk. Even Morris Iemma, premier of New South Wales, who visited the site has been warned he could be at risk.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a repected Sydney newspaper, it has been established that “No proper tests were done at the site before it became a training ground for hundreds of top-level rescuers in 2004″,”Personnel were kept in the dark for up to a year about the asbestos before being told last week”,”NSW public officials and a host of ministers may have been exposed”,”Ambulance chief Greg Rochford and Mr Mullins have been at the site and must face a health clearance”, and”The Dust Diseases Tribunal is conducting an investigation into the long-term impact the mass exposure could have on emergency services in NSW.”
